The St Albans Bowling Club’s men are through to the next round of the Jones Cup.
St Albans beat Harperbury by 14 shots. The home team of Adrian Poulter, Max Schroeder, Alan Turner and Steve Wilson earned a 23–11 win, while the away team of Jim Cockburn, Phil MacArthur, Ted Salvidge and John Bartlett won by two shots.
In the St Albans and District Triples, the men’s team of Robin Farrer, Bartlett and Tony Rylands beat Harpenden 20-11. The women’s team didn’t so as well, losing to Welwyn and District Bowls Club. Linda Burfield, Marjorie Knight and Jacy Farrer won their match by one shot but the home team lost 20-12.
The ladies fours of Pauline Gardiner, Linda Burfield, Carole Ewer and Jill Morris and aureen Rylands, Sally Griffiths, Carol Jeavons and Jacy Farrer won 43-5 and 18-12 respectively against North Mymms.
