SKI racer Jayme Baggio made a strong start to The British Land National Ski Championships on Sunday when she finished third in the Women's Super G.

Jayme, aged 16, was competing with a top-class field, many of whom are full time on The British Land National Ski team at the French 1992 Olympic resort of Meribel.

The Harpenden ski racer is currently studying for her GCSE exams and trains part time. She impressed the British coaches and the large crowd with her performance. Jayme, who finished only 1.23 seconds behind Pam Thorburn, ranked Britain's number two in Super G and Downhill, said: "I am still only racing part time, training in Bormio, Italy, and racing for two weeks at a time then returning home to study for two weeks. I have not raced very many British championship Super G's so far but this one felt really good and I felt I skied well.
