PETA Lundgren comfortably won the Senior Girls Javelin at the English Schools Championships held at the Gateshead International Stadium. The impressive St Albans athlete who competes for Herts Phoenix threw 43m to win with a National Schools standard
PETA Lundgren comfortably won the Senior Girls Javelin at the English Schools Championships held at the Gateshead International Stadium.
The impressive St Albans athlete who competes for Herts Phoenix threw 43m to win with a National Schools standard distance, more than two metres ahead of her nearest rival. Peta, aged 18, adds the ESAA title to her South of England title won in June.
Herts Phoenix had a record 21 athletes selected for the Hertfordshire Schools team and came home with four gold medals and two silver medals.
Lucy Yates, from St Albans, finished third in her heat of the senior girls 800m with a National Standard time of 2.10.60 to qualify for the final. The Shaftesbury Barnet Harrier was unable to replicate her qualifying performance in the main event and finished eighth.
St Albans Athletic Club duo Stefan Maile and Abigail Holman represented Herts in the jump events. Stefan cleared 1.64m to finish 20th in the junior boys high jump final and Abigail jumped 5.07m in the Inter Girls long jump for 11th place.
Niall Fleming ran 9.09.70 in the final of the inter boys 3,000m for 16th place and Tom Brookes ran an English Schools standard time of 2.06.70 in the heat of the junior boys 800m but did not qualify for the final.
