Spartan South Midlands Premier DivisionColney Heath 3 Tring Athletic 0PHIL JACKMAN netted twice as Colney Heath moved to within two points of opponents Tring Athletic following this 3-0 win.All three of the Magpies' goals came in the second half as Ian Cooper and Jackman wrapped up the points for Scott Lacey and Wes Awad's team.Tring enjoyed the better of the openings in the first half with Tom Blackman pushing Matt Myatt's effort wide and Ashley Addison fired straight at the Heath custodian.

The second half was only three minutes old when Cooper, the league's leading goalscorer netted his 35th goal of the campaign.

Jackman then took centre stage with two goals in as many minutes. There was no one more delighted than me to see Phil get a brace," boss Lacey said of Saturday's two goal hero. "I call Phil the bridesmaid because Coops is always the bride getting the goals and headlines and Phil is the bridesmaid doing all the running, and battling with the defenders."

The Magpies boss was delighted to see his side turn in a performance that was up with their excellent pre-Christmas form. "The team's got its old faces back and it's one of those positive periods of the season. "The lads are playing at the top of their game and they are listening. We're giving them a game plan and they are sticking to it. "When the team does well the club is a completely different place."

The Heath supremo felt Tring never really threatened his side's defence and was full of praise for centre-half Matt Corbould. "The Man of the Match without a doubt was Matt Corbould. Tring have a lad up front Mark Burfoot whose got 25 or 30 goals this season and apart from one miss he's never had a touch.

"Matty's won every header and every challenge and I think the lads take some comfort knowing they've got someone like that at the back."

Reserve team players Neil Thompson, Sam O'Connell and Sean Brettell have all stepped up to the first team in recent weeks and boss Lacey says they have done extremely well. "We've been fortunate when we've been light off bodies to have reserve team players come through who are very good reserve team players. "Sam O'Connell and Sean came on on Saturday and are both pushing for a place in the first team."
