FOR the second time this season London Colney finished a match with nine players after both Kenny Hull and Matt Newman were sent off during their 2-0 loss to Tring Athletic on Saturday.

Tring had the first few chances early in the game with first Matt Jarvis shooting wide when it looked easier to score and then Conner Smith fired over the bar and he also had a curling free-kick save by Mark Whittamore.

Play switched to the other end when Lewis Foster, who started after Jimmy Warner was injured in the warm-up, saw his low drive flash wide.

Dave Keenleyside went close twice but had one effort saved and another deflected wide.

In the second half the Blueboys put on some pressure as they were playing down the slope.

Both Newman and Keenleyside were causing some problems in the Tring box and Newman fired a good shot at goal but keeper Mike Underwood pushed it around the post.

After this things started to go wrong for The Blueboys as Hull received a second yellow card for a silly challenge on Tony Fields.

Tring went on the attack with Kay Brown and Deon Thomas twice testing Whittamore.

On 67 minutes Tring took the lead as Brown’s shot was beaten away by Whittamore, but Thomas followed-up to score.

Newman then had another shot blocked and Shaun Murphy headed wide for Colney.

Tring then scored their second when Fields swept the ball over from the right and Matt Sutton raced in to clear but the ball hit him and ended up in the back of his own net.

Once again Colney were frustrated as Newman had another shot blocked.

Deciding that he had been fouled as he was about to shoot Newman chased after the referee and protested with some harsh language that in the end saw him shown a straight red card.

This Saturday London Colney play Tring again, this time in the SSML Premier Division Cup.
