THE OA junior cricket section will be running two summer cricket camps with international coaching to bowl over youngsters at Woollams.

With more than 300 members, the OA junior section is flourishing and a number of teams have progressed to the quarter finals of the county cup in their age groups and are looking to progress further.

Two cricket-week camps have been organised at Woollams, the OA ground on Harpenden Road, for the weeks commencing Monday, July 28 and Monday, August 4. These camps, run by Superstumps, are for children between the ages of six and 13 and are open to anyone of any experience, from those who would like to try cricket for the first time, to experts who play at District or County level.

Superstumps Director Graham Dill, a former Cambridge University Cricketer, has set up the camps to provide children with the opportunity to improve their cricket over the holidays in a safe and fun environment. He said: "Woollams is a truly fantastic venue where the children will enjoy improving their cricket and have fun in their summer holidays. The camp is open to all children in the area, they will be able to use these amazing facilities, meet new friends and be improved by our team of coaches."

First-class Trinidad cricketer Kwesi Roy, playing for OAs, will be one of the coaches. Roy has made a big impression at OAs the Superstumps specialist bowling coach has bowled against the great West Indian cricketer Brian Lara. The team is made up of experienced qualified coaches.

A successful 'Taster Day' was run in half term with some fantastic feedback gained from the kids who all thoroughly enjoyed the day.

More information on the weekly camps can be gained from the website www.superstumps.com or by contacting Graham on 07932 627769. Children can attend daily or weekly depending on their preference.
