For the first time in 30 years, a Harpenden Ladies Team won the Hertfordshire County Samaritan Gala trophy.

Played at Stevenage against 22 other teams the win was a remarkable success for the team consisting of Dena Roberts, Linda Brooks, Jan Holland and Linda Newby.

There was a very positive result in the County League against De Havilland with Harpenden’s men winning conclusively by 59-27.

The ladies did equally well by winning their rink away at De Havilland 20-13. The team consisted of Lesley Tutt, Janet Hubball, Beryl Driscoll and Pauline Taylor.

The club progressed to the next round of the Men’s Top Club competition, beating Herts BC by four disciplines to one, and a visiting Dunstable claimed a two-shot victory in a mixed triples match, both teams winning two rinks each.
