St Columba’s College recorded its highest ever finish at the final finals of the ESAA Cup.

The boys’ team came second overall at Newquay Tretherras School, thanks in part to George Groom’s bronze medal run and Josh Edwards’ 11th-placed finish.

Emerging from the pack after a disastrous start which saw him fall, George Loveman, the regional biathlon champion, picked off the opposition to climb to 26th having been 130th in the first lap. Henry Fulton brought the scoring four home, followed by James Bromfield and Daniel Millar to close out the six runners.

The boys received their awards from Olympian Jemma Simpson.

With all the boys running in the lower end of their age groups, St Columba’s cross country future looks very bright.
