There’ll be a new look off the field at Harpenden Cricket Club this year – and one they hope will be replicated on it.
The long-desired and redeveloped pavilion is rapidly taking shape and once completed, the hope is it provides a beacon for the successful club.
The Common-based club already run six senior sides and have a large colts section and according to director of cricket Peter Frost, the new build will strengthen off the field as well
He said: “The social side of the club has always been one of the club's strengths and now we will have the facility to cater for year round activities of the club and its members.
“There has always been a warm welcome for everyone at Harpenden but that welcome will now be possible with wonderful facilities for all, together with the new nets installed in the last year.”
Former skipper Ben Fraser has left to join Hampstead in the but Frost says the majority of the players from last year are still available for this campaign with more opportunities for several of the club's talented youngsters.

He said: “The club has always backed the development of its colts section and the current group of players demonstrates the benefit of that work.
“This year we are looking for that group and the more experienced members of the side to challenge the best teams in the Premier Division.”
One of those players that has come through the junior ranks at Harpenden is George Garrett, who is now part of the Warwickshire set-up.
And Frost, along with the rest of the club, is delighted for the young man.
“It's fantastic to see George making big strides having seen him develop at the club since a young colt,” said the director.
“There are a lot of other talented colts making their way into senior cricket now with several players in the Hertfordshire County squad and throughout their junior structures, but George's example is an inspiration to everyone.
“There will be opportunities for everyone but in particular I am looking forward to Alex Axon taking a leading role in the batting line up.
“Arthur Garrett's left arm spin and all-rounder Andrew Neil, another who has made his first-class debut this season, are others.”
