BERKHAMSTED Golf Club’s Gaius Potton secured his Herts Golf Union Seniors Championship hat-trick with a win at Essendon Country Club.
Having on the competition in 2000 and 2005, the HGU seniors captain all the way after his morning score of 74. One shot back were the just turned 55 Kevin Fitzgerald of Old Fold Manor and another previous winner, Martin McKenna of Letchworth, who won the event in 2008 and 2009.
Potton returned a round of 75 in the afternoon, an overall score of 149, to win the competition by two shots.
John Cooper of Stocks won the Trude Trophy for the best 36 hole nett score of 141 for the day, beating Kevin Fitzgerald into second place on a back 18 countback.
Next years event is scheduled to be held at The Hertfordshire Golf & Country Club with a prospective date of July 16.
