A solid display by New Jacks against a well-organised Phoenix Res side saw them to a comfortable 3-2 win in the Knockout Cup.

Jimmy Owen returned from injury to grab the match ball, scoring a hat-trick and also claiming the man of the match award.

Queens Head also moved into the next round with a 3-2 win, this time against Stonewood, who took the lead early on.

But goals from George Guest and Matt Balser put Queens in front and although Stonewood equalised, Matt Corran grabbed the winner.

Two goals apiece from Michael Davis, Lee Close and Ben Warren saw Skew Bridge into the next round of the Challenge Cup with a 6-0 defeat of Nascot Arms.

In the Intermediate Cup, Division Four Marshalswick Rovers almost caused an upset after taking a 2-0 lead through Steve Bellard and Jamie Moss against Division Two Brookmans Park Res.

Two own goals from Gary Hitchen and Ceri Dix got Park level but Rovers immediately hit back through Michael Bleach to restore the lead. Callum Baylis forced extra time for Park who came through 4-3 in the shoot-out.

Oaks moved into the next round of the Herts Junior Cup with a 2-1 win against Hemel Athletic. John Woodward scored one of the goals.

In the Herts Advertiser Premier Division, Phoenix fell to their fifth league defeat, going down 4-1 to AFC Rangers. Jack Gage scored their only goal.

In Division One, Blacksmiths Arms found themselves a goal down before they even touched the ball against unbeaten Skew Bridge Res but came back to win 4-2. Jack Skinner got a hat-trick on his debut and Tim Attwood the other. William Bates and Elliot Smith scored for Skew.

Ally Collins scored twice for Garston Panthers as they beat Six Bells 3-1.

Harpenden Colts and Chequers Inn fought out a scrappy 1-1 draw in Division Two where neither side imposed themselves. Ben Hutton scored for Colts.

Dean Baker’s goal wasn’t enough as Wheathampstead 89 lost 2-1 to Nicholas Breakspear Res, their fourth successive league defeat.

BWSC recorded their first win of the season, beating Snug Bar 3-2 with goals from Dan Taylor, Craig Ashurst and Mark Starnes. Scott Brown replied with both goals for Snug.

Stonewood Res picked up their second win in Division Three, defeating Blackboy 4-2 with two goals from Tom Mardle and one each from Dan Bisby and Lewis Johnson. Ian Adele scored both Blackboy’s goals.

Royston Rangers drew 2-2 with Jolly Sailor despite taking a 2-0 lead. Debutants Sam Carrington and Jordan Warshawsky got the goals for Rangers.

A 2-0 defeat to Harpenden Rovers Blue was compounded by a poor performance from Athletico Quat.

In Division Four, Brookmans Park ‘A’ won 3-1 against Royston Rangers Res with goals from James Jankawski, Paolo Besenzi and Will Cousins. Royston had as much of the game but Lee Thorne’s first for the club was all they could muster.

Harpenden Colts OB Res beat White Horse 3-1 with goals from Matt Shaw, Chris Newcombe and Ender Tahsin.

And league leaders Pinewood stretched their advantage with a 6-0 win over The Mill. Their goals came from Luke Harris, Andrew Alsop and a brace each for Yannick Vangu and George Milsted.
