COLNEY Heath kept up the pressure on the league's leaders with a 3-0 win at Biggleswade United.
Ian Cooper set the ball rolling converting a penalty for his 25th goal of the season and Kevin Ashwood grabbed a second before the break with a long range effort that bobbled in front of the goalkeeper and went through his legs.
The third was added early in the second half when Liam Beaumont slid in Lee Newman who fired past the goalkeeper.
The result was Heath's second 3-0 win in succession and boss Scott Lacey was pleased with the side's response to their 'Nightmare November'.
"That's two 3-0 wins on the bounce, one at home and one away from home and it's encouraging especially after the mini-crisis we went through," Lacey told the Herts Advertiser.
"We're still not at our best but it was a professional and comfy win. We went into the break 2-0 up and we asked the lads to go on and get four or five but we scored early in the second half and that was job done."
Lacey believes his troops aren't far from being back to their best and has challenged them to push on and build a decent unbeaten run.
"We're nearly back to our best," said the Heath boss. "Matt Corbould has come in and shored it up at the back and it's the first time we've been able to name the same back four two games running. I just hope we can take momentum from the two clean sheets.
"We need to put together a six or eight game run to be contenders - I think Tring are 10 games unbeaten. We need to kick on and show determination defensively not just as a defence but as a team.
"Ian's got 25 goals before Christmas and that's a great credit to Ian."
The Magpies welcome Langford to the Recreation Ground on Saturday a team they beat 7-0 back in August.
