COLNEY Heath boss Scott Lacey says his side can't afford any more slip ups if they are to finish in the top six this season.

The Magpies have lost their last two games and face a tricky away trip to Oxhey Jets on Saturday and Lacey told The Herts Advertiser that he wouldn't go there to be negative.

"If we go there and win we can pull away but if we don't we're right back in the mix.

"If we want to be a top six side we can't afford any more slip ups.

"They've [Oxhey Jets] had a dip recently and aren't doing as well as people thought they would since the start of the year.

"I'm going there to win. We're third and they're seventh so we won't go there with any negativity. We need three points, draws aren't any good now.

"We're aiming for a top three finish still. I'm sure if we can get three games and win them all, nine points would be massive right now."

The Magpies supremo says his squad has got enough quality to finish in the top three but has warned against complacency. "The squad has got top three quality so it's about consistency and complacency. If we can weed out the complacency and get the consistency we'll be alright. Maybe we went second too early and the lads thought they'd done it and it'd be easy."

The club's training schedule has been severely disrupted by the weather with Lacey frustrated that he couldn't put his squad through their paces.

"A break would have been good if we could train but we haven't been able to train.

"We'll train tonight [Tuesday] and again on Thursday.

"We had a team night out on Saturday which is always good to get the players together and bonding."

Neil Jordan will resume training this week after a month on the sidelines which may mean that Liam Beuamont returns to Arlesey Town.

"Jordo's [Neil Jordan] is back in training tonight [Tuesday]" said Lacey.

"Liam [Beaumont] may go back to Arlesey now.

"I'd like him to stay but I think he'll go back to Arlesey."

Heath have been busy behind the scenes trying to add new faces to the squad but Lacey revealed that the search has proved frustrating.

"We've bought big John [Donoghue] in and we've looked at getting other players in but a lot of players are settled now and want to see the season out where they are."

Heath's game at Oxhey on Saturday kicks off at 3pm.
