Oxhey Jets 1 Colney Heath 1

A LATE own goal ensured Colney Heath's unbeaten run continued away at Oxhey Jets.

Lee Inch looked to have given the Jets an unexpected victory when he scored late on but the Magpies showed their never say die attitude to force an own goal and secure a draw and manager Scott Lacey felt it wasn't a bad result.

"On reflection it wasn't a bad point," Lacey told the Herts Advertiser.

"A lot of sides have played defensively against us and to Oxhey's credit their came at us with three forwards.

"We are under-strength due to suspensions and with a full side, and this is not being arrogant, I think we'd have come away winners."

Lacey believes that the fact the club was disappointed with an away point shows how far they've progressed over the past few months.

"We showed the strength, quality and attitude of the players we've got at this club and that's all credit to the lads.

"I think that's the sixth game were we've come from behind to take something from the game.

"A draw being a disappointment is not a bad place to be. It shows how far we've come as a club that a draw away from home is disappointing."

Heath fielded an experimental line-up in Tuesday night's Herts Senior Cup game with Broxbourne and lost 2-1 with Greg Deacon getting Heath's goal.

Despite the result Lacey was pleased with how the evening went.

"Last night we used it as a trial game - we played a few youngsters and tried a new formation. It worked well for 80 minutes but unfortunately we got down twice on the break," said the Magpies' boss.

"However with the side we had out I thought it was a positive performance.

The goal we scored was probably the best goal we've scored all season - it was total football.
