Herts Intermediate Cup Round One
Hinton 0 Markyate 3
A SECOND half hat trick from Rohan Deroses ensured Markyate progressed to Round Two of the Herts Intermediate Cup on Saturday.
Daniel Douglas and Deroses went close for the Yate in the first half but an excellent block denied the former and the latter lobbed just over the cross bar after a fine through ball from Adam Mead.
The Yate continued to threaten in the second half but they had to wait until 62 minutes to open the scoring. Aaron Wilson surged forward and found Douglas who set up Deroses to score the opening goal.
A good work rate saw the team create chance after chance. Markyate had the ball in the net again on 75 minutes but somehow there was an offside given to deny Aaron Hamilton a great strike into the top corner.
In the final five minutes Markyate secured their progress as Deroses scored his second and then in injury time his third against a tiring Hinton side. The Yate go on to play another away tie at Bushey Rangers in Round Two.
The Yate continued their good Sunday form with an emphatic win against Bury Park Saracens Reserves in the North Home Counties Sunday League Division Three.
Matt Tibbs opened the scoring and Steve Hawes went on to score his third hat trick of the season. Tom Burton notched the fifth goal and Lee Jefferies crowned a stunning 6-1 win with a great volley after excellent approach work from Burton.
