Harvesters Leopards were delighted with their success in the U11 tournament hosted by St Albans City Youth.

The young side battled past 23 other teams, beating one of the host teams, City South, 2-0 in the final.

It was a very tight game and the two strikes from Jack Horne were the only goals conceded by the South throughout the tournament.

Leopards had reached the final by qualifying second from group C behind AFC Oaklands, winning four games including matches against three City Youth teams, East, Spartans and Central.

They then saw off Harpenden Colts Red in the quarter-finals, Horne, Milo Hegarty and Archie Woodgate getting the goals.

The semi-final meant a rematch with Oaklands who had beaten them in the group stage. This went to penalties after Charlie Bolding had scored in a 1-1 draw.

The Leopards won through though 4-3 in the shootout.

The South had qualified for the knockout stages from group D which they had topped with five wins from five.

Among those victories were games against club-mates Arrows and Romans and the South hit 18 goals altogether, shared around between Freddie Yeo (four), Owen Weaver (four), Sam Estell (three), James Beasley (two), Max Butterworth (two), Ben Browing (two) and Louis Godfrey.

They beat Bedwell Rangers 3-0 in the quarter-final thanks to goals from Beasley, Weaver and Estell and it was Estell who got the only goal in a 1-0 win over City Orient in the semi-final.

Orient had qualified from the group stage with a perfect record, scoring 15 goals along the way.

Alex Hails got four, Oscar Noble, Thomas Boca-Mapp and Bertie Postema three each and Ollie Jay two.
