BADMINTON: Harpenden entered their second outing of the season away at Gadebridge with three new pairings lining up.

Captain Jennifer Giddings, paired with Men's County captain Chris Holland, played first and beat the Gadebridge first pair by a narrow margin in straight sets 22-20 and 21-19.

Their match against the second pair went to three but they won the rubber again with narrow margins. They also won their third game in straight sets 21-18 and 21-15.

Mike Brock and Carol Lowe played at second pair beating Gadebridge's second and third pairs comprehensively 21-13, 21-17 and 21-11, 21-16. Unfortunately they lost against the first pair 12-21 and 17-21 but not without a strong fight. This was their first outing as a pair and was a good result.

Guru Lota and Carol Thompson were the third pairing and won all their matches in straight sets - taking no prisoners.

The Gadebridge first pair were seen off 22-20 and 21-9, the second pair faired no better going down 21-15 and 21-15 and the third pair were beaten 21-15 and 21-14.

This was a fantastic beginning to this partnership and helped Harpenden win 8-1 overall.
