Harpenden Girls U11 cricket team were crowned county champions on Sunday after beating St Albans at Knebworth Park, completing an unbeaten season.
St Albans won the toss and chose to bat first. What followed from Harpenden was their best bowling and fielding display of the season.
The pick of the bowlers were Maddie Evans, Amy Turner, Abi Edbrook and Susie Stafford, although all the bowlers played their part. The stars of the fielding were Emma Clarke, who took two catches, and Luella Base who missed nothing. St Albans finished their innings on 212-11 off their 16 overs.
In reply, Maddie and Amy got the innings off to a steady start, but it was Livvy Best and Abi who gave the innings real impetus, taking the score to 232. Emily Bevan and Emma made sure there was no late drama and continued to add runs which allowed Charlotte Caswell and Susie to end the innings with a flourish and take the score to 260-5 wickets.
