HARPENDEN TOWN begun the SSML Division One season with a win against Winslow United.
Two well-taken goals by James Ewington and Harry Hunt sealed a 2-0 win for Town against one of the league’s favourites for promotion.
Ewington opened the scoring in the seventh minute, receiving a diagonal through ball from Craig Mortimer before beating the goalkeeper.
Ewington turned provider for the second goal, releasing Hunt who made no mistake it nestling the ball in the net.
With the front pair both scoring and showing signs of gelling together, as well as energetic performances from the central midfield of Tom Collins and Ben Dawes, Harpenden Town could cause a few shocks this season.
Town are back in action on Tuesday night against Codicote at Rothamsted Park, kick-off 7.45pm.
Harpenden Town FC: Lord, Davies, Warren, Burns, N.Dawes, Clarke, B.Dawes, Collins, Ewington (Chilinau), Hunt (Elliot), Mortimer (Walker). Subs not used: Gregory (GK), Edwards.
