Harpenden Lawn Tennis Club’s men’s over-75 team retained the National Inter-Club Championships by beating South Ribble.
The winning team comprised John Barnett, Mike Cottee, Richard Rowlandson, Gary Sharpe, Barrie Williams, with Keith Sharples as captain. They secured a convincing victory of four rubbers to nil, with one unfinished.
The triumph capped a successful month for senior members of the club, who, on November 7, also took up all but one place in the Hertfordshire County team that won the 2014 Inter County Championships for the second year running. The team included Barnett, Rowlandson, Williams, as well as Mike Hudson and Peter Gosbell, with Sharples as captain.
