Harpenden Golf Club take two second places at Senior Champion Club

HARPENDEN Golf Club came away from the Herts Senior Championship with two runners-up.

Held at Verulam Golf Club, Brian Bulmer (82), Bill Macintyre (77) and Colin Cave (87) shot a combined score of 246 around 18 holes, with the best two rounds bringing their total to 159, giving them second place in the Senior Champion Club team competition.

The tournament was won by Moor Park (152) and Berkhamsted (161) finished two shots behind Harpenden.

In the singles Macintyre went round in 72 off a five handicap, good enough for second place, one shot behind David Bradbury of Mid Herts Golf Club.

Macintyre’s gross score of 77 was the best of any competitor in the competition, better than Bradbury by two shots but the Mid Herts golfer’s handicap of eight gave him a lower net score, and the win.
