IT'S A busy time both on and off the pitch at Harpenden Town for chairman and caretaker manager Kelvin Gregory.

Town suffered two defeats on the pitch over losing 1-0 to Sun Postal Sports at the weekend and 3-0 to Bedford on Tuesday evening while off it Gregory is looking to appoint a new manager and upgrade the club's facilities.

"It was dreadful on Saturday," Gregory said of Saturday's defeat to Sun Postal.

"I don't think I've ever seen 11 players play so badly for 45 minutes.

"They got their heads around it and it was much better in the second half but we were already 1-0 down by then."

Harpenden put in an improved performance at home to Bedford on Tuesday night but three goals in four minutes gave the visitors all three points.

"Last night for 75 minutes it was very even," the caretaker boss commented on Wednesday morning.

"We had chances and they had chances but we fell asleep for five minutes and we lost 3-0.

"I was annoyed with them on Saturday but last night I felt sorry for them but that's football and we'll bounce back."

Off the pitch Gregory has set his sights on taking the club forward starting with a new manager.

Gregory has filled the hotseat at Rothamsted Park since Christian Gazarolli left the club in November but is looking to speak to potential replacements ahead of this weekend's game with Sport London e Benfica as well as talking to builders about improving the facilities on offer at the ground.

"I'll get down early on Saturday and look to do interviews with two guys who've contacted us.

"I've also got some builders coming down too. I've been trying for the last nine months or so to redevelop the ground which is a big project.

"We're trying to renegotiate the lease and just when we think it's getting there something crops up.

"We've got to do some work to get the ground grading to stay in the league but I don't want to do too much if it's going to be ripped down."

Gregory also paid tribute to reserve team bosses John Gregory and Simon Andrews for their continued good work.

"The reserves have had a couple of wins and that's great for them.

"John and Si have done a great job, they've gone to some games with just 11 players because we've had to take some of their players.

"The U18s have entered an intermediate cup and they're going to look at players for next season and they've got their first game this week.

"Dave King's managing them and if there's anybody interested in having a run out for them contact the club."

Anybody who is interested in turning out for the U18s or the vacant manager's position should contact Gregory on 07834 461771.
