Harpenden Arrows’ first ever appearance at the National Cross Country Championships produced an impressive performance.

The 2018 edition of the event was held at Parliament Hill on Hampstead Heath in north London, with a combined total of close to 10,000 runners competing in the 10 events across the different age groups.

Arrows were in the senior men’s race and with six needed for a scoring team, Tom Cochrane, Steve Bowran, Ammon Piepgrass, Andrew Cripps, Roger Montgomery and Julian Tall came home 121st out of 162.

Arrows chairman Graham Harper said: “I was very pleased we entered a team into the National Championships and our performance at the meet was excellent.

“We pride ourselves on remaining a friendly, supportive and social running club and at the same time we have demonstrated that the Arrows are now a force to be reckoned with all the way up to the national level.”
