Radlett 82-10 Portsmouth 64-9

RADLETT women secured their first victory under new captain Hayley Arrol thanks to an outstanding bowling effort by Piya Haria.

The impressive Haria removed seven of the Portsmouth wickets, with the last four all clean bowled in four balls.

This was Radlett's longest trip of the season in Division Three of the Women's Southern League and the prospect of facing a Portsmouth team containing a number of county players was, to say the least, daunting.

Strong winds made conditions difficult but Radlett stuck to the task with Arrol leading from the front scoring 35 in Radlett's total of 82. Solid support came from Michele Verroken and Laura Lambert.

In reply, Radlett put in a spirited effort in the field, inspired by wicket keeper Louise Verroken-Jones but Portsmouth appeared to be cruising to victory on 64 for 5 off 17 overs, needing only 19 runs for victory. Haria had three wickets from her six overs and the next four balls went down in Radlett history. The hat trick was completed and then the fourth victim taken to leave Portsmouth sunk and Radlett victorious by 18 runs.
