CITY hotshot Paul Hakim is relishing the prospect of returning to former club Bishop's Stortford on Saturday.

City's leading scorer played for the Woodside Park outfit in 2004 before crossing Hertfordshire to join the Saints and he admits that players do put in that little bit extra against their former employers.

"You like to do well in every game but in games against your former clubs you do put that little bit extra effort in to try and show them what they're missing out on."

Hakim's time at Stortford came to an end when he fell out of favour with manager Martin Hayes, but the long-serving manager was relieved of his duties before Christmas.

"With Bishop's Stortford it's more about playing well to show Martin Hayes but he's gone now. With Martin Hayes I felt I had a point to prove to him because I fell out of favour with him but it's always nice to go back to your old club and do well. "

Hakim says that the squad is confident of turning their form around and that he has faith in his ability in front of goal.

"We're confident going into every game but we've not had much luck recently. We're confident that we can get on a winning run and starting climbing up the table. I'm always confident I can score. I never shy away and I just have to keep getting in there."

The severe weather has proved a logistical nightmare for the club but Hakim says that manager Steve Castle and his assistant Andy Edwards have done well to organise as much training as they have.

"It's been a bit of a nightmare. Steve [Castle] and Andy [Edwards] have organised sessions and we've trained on all weather surfaces which is good. We've probably done more training than most clubs.

"I just want to get out there and play games because I don't think there is anything better. It's good to keep ticking over. The pitch at Stortford is usually good so hopefully we'll get a game on Saturday!
