St Albans Lawn Tennis Club’s Matthew Hails has qualified for the Road to Wimbledon National Finals.

The 13-year-old will follow in the footsteps of 2015 champion Novac Djokovic and Roger Federer when he graces the grass courts at SW19 in August.

Hails qualified by virtue of winning his club competition at St Albans, then followed up by winning the Herts County finals at Queenswood.

In total, to make the national finals, he won seven competitive tennis matches without losing a set.

Hails has been a member at St Albans since he was seven years old and has benefited from the coaching of Ross Alexander.
