Emily Hack from St Albans Athletics Club is the new South of England athletics 300m champion.
The St George’s School pupil won all three of her races in the U17 women’s age group at South of England Athletics Championshops, held at Lee Valley.
Hack eased through her heat, winning by more than six tenths of a second. Her semi-final was much closer, with Medway and Maidstone AC runner Megan Walsh finishing one hundredth of a second behind. Hack’s 42.01 in her first competition of 2015 was quick, but a long way off her personal best of 41.24.
Running against five others in the final, Hack pulled away to beat Sian Keegan of Medway and Maidstone and Bracknell AC’s Phoebe Fenwick to take gold.
