Sunni Durani bowling for Greenwood Park

Greenwood Park took full advantage of Dunstable 3rds’ first defeat of the season with a six-wicket success at Northampton Exiles.

The win leaves Park just 10 points behind their Bedfordshire rivals at the top of SHCL Division Eight B.

And it was built on a solid bowling performance, with Sunni Durrani’s fivefer the stand-out effort.

He finished with figures of 5-24 as the Exiles were dismissed for just 94.

The hosts had actually reached 41-1 before the bowlers took control.

Durrani twice grabbed a double-wicket maiden and he was supported by the ever effective Mubarek Zeb with 3-23.

The tenth wicket was from a run out which was caused by continuous pressure from the Greenwood Park fielders and the champagne moment was a Collingwood-esque catch from Ed Kirk, taken running backwards over his shoulder at cover.

The Greenwood reply began positively before Jimmy Otter fell for nine.

Chris Kent and Ed Gray re-built patiently, manipulating the field and knocking off the runs comfortably.

Gray went with Park on 56-1 but Zeb’s quick-fire 20 before took that onto 85.

It was left to Kirk to see Greenwood home for a fourth successive win.

They travel to Letchworth tomorrow (Saturday) hopeful of continuing the winning momentum.
