James Gray says he wants James Kaloczi in his St Albans City squad but can’t give him the assurances he wants.

According to the manager, Kaloczi wants to play exclusively at centre-half next season, something the Saints can’t offer him after James Comley, Omar Beckles and Darren Locke penned new deals

“He’s looking to be a centre-half and wants assurances, which we can’t give him so he’s looking around,” explained Gray.

“We’ve offered him a contract and want him to stay but whether he signs is up to him.”

He added: “We can’t say he’ll be at centre-back week in, week out because we have Coms, Omar and Lockey. I don’t make assurances to anybody in the teams, that’s the way I want it to be; I want lads fighting for the shirt.”

Kalcozi has scored eight goals in 62 appearances over the past two seasons.
