St Albans City joint managers James Gray and Graham Golds scooped the Vanarama Conference South manager of the month award for April.

Finishing the season with four consecutive wins against Eastbourne Borough, Gosport Borough, Ebbsfleet United and Hayes & Yeading United with nine goals scored and only one conceded was enough to secure the award.

On the announcement Gray told the club’s official website: “Graham and I are really pleased to receive the award but it’s been a real team effort here. The staff have been brilliant but most of the credit must go to the group of players we have assembled. We fought right to the end when there was nothing really to play for and that is a good sign of things to come.”

The official awards panel added: “It is the first time under Vanarama sponsorship that the monthly accolade has been awarded to joint managers. It has been a great end to the season for St Albans City, which bodes well for the next campaign.’

The Vanarama Conference South player of the month is Danny Mills of Whitehawk, who scored four goals during the period.
