Richard Graham’s red card against Tonbridge Angels in the FA Trophy will be upheld after the necessary evidence to overturn the decision failed to come to light before the appeal deadline.
The 33-year-old was sent off for the first time in his career following an alleged elbow on Henry Muggeridge on Saturday at Longmead.
The video above shows the red card incident (skip to 1:40), which happened in the third minute of the game.
According to FA guidelines, St Albans City had until 1pm on Sunday to submit notification of their intention to appeal and a another 24 hours to provide the necessary video footage to prove Graham’s innocence.
However, the footage from the game, provided by Tonbridge Angels, did not reach St Albans City until 6pm on Monday.
The consequence is Graham’s three game suspension will come into effect 14 days after the date of the red card, meaning he will miss the FA Trophy tie with Cambridge United on December 14 plus league games against Bashley (Dec 16) and Redditch United (Dec 21).
