EIGHT competitors from St Albans Judo Club travelled to Crystal Palace to take part in the BJA Kent International Competition.

This was an extremely difficult competition with Judoka travelling from all over Europe to compete.

Lucy Day fought at her best and came away with gold, while Chloe Alvis and Emily Niven came home with silver medals and Paige Rowlatt won a bronze.

Connor Nash, Tyler Nash, Amy Platten and Bradley Howell fought their hardest at this tough competition.

Meanwhile the Hertfordshire Schools Competition took place on Sunday in Berkhamsted.

Thirty eight youngsters from St Albans Judo Club competed on behalf of their schools.

There to present the medals was Judo Olympian, Peter Cousins, who also gave autographs to the long line of waiting judoka.

The club had junior, primary and secondary schools represented from St Albans, Harpenden, Watford, Hemel, Welwyn, Shenley, Hatfield and Bushey.

Their ages ranged from seven to 16 and every single one of them fought to a very high standard.

St Albans’ final tally was 12 gold medals, seven silver medals and 16 bronze medals.
