In the women’s race, where competitors must be aged 35 and up, Zoe Lowe took individual bronze. Fellow Striders Mandy Attree, Liz Wall and Deirdre Haydecker finished within 10 seconds of each other to take seventh, eighth and ninth respectively.

In the men’s race for those aged 40 and over, Graham Smith led the winning team home in third collecting another bronze medal in the process. He was followed across the finishing line by Craig Dowie in eighth, 15th placed Graham Foster and Jeremy Weightman in 18th. In a separate race for the over sixties men, John Hope was fourth and Colin Egleton finished eighth. The medal haul marks the end of a successful cross country season for the club.

On Saturday 56 runners braved atrocious weather conditions to compete in the St Albans Parkrun where Striders Pablo Plaza Lastras, Graham Smith and Richard Devereux came first, second and sixth respectively. Jenny Maddocks was the first lady to finish.

Numerous races were cancelled on Sunday due to continuing adverse weather conditions, but one event that did go ahead was the Cranleigh 21 mile road race in Surrey, which Strider Vanessa Hastings completed in 3hrs 19mins.
