THERE were family celebrations as City of St Albans Swimming Club swimmers set new records at the Barnet 200m Gala.

Matthew Henson, aged 16, set a new championship record, winning the Boys Open 200m freestyle. Matthew's sister Charlotte, aged 14 set a new championship record and personal best time in the girls 200m backstroke. Matthew then hit back, winning the 200m breaststroke with a new personal best, only to see Charlotte, with the sibling rivalry at fever pitch, take gold in the final event with a new best time in the girls 200m freestyle.

Holly Winfield, aged 14 took gold in the girls 200m butterfly, and Samuel Henson, aged 11, finished with a silver in the boys 200m freestyle. Chloe Beard, aged 13, took bronze in girls 200m breaststroke.

There were more fine performances, with Amy Lees and Sophie Henson both setting personal best times in each of their three events.
