North & Mid Herts League Division One
Warriors 1 St Albans Wanderers 2
Inspired by Man of the Match, Shaun Gibson, Wanderers imposed themselves on this game from the off.
The opening stages were dominated by the visitors, with Gibson and Carl Fadhel making a number of searching runs. The two combined again after 30 minutes, feeding the ball through to Richard Francis who drilled home for 1-0.
The second half began with the home team raising their game, with an effort ruled out for offside.
It was only a matter of time before the equaliser came, but the long range shot that flew over the Wanderers 'keeper was an unexpected route.
The away team continued to press and, again, it was Gibson in the thick of things, being brought down in the box when clean through on goal.
Wanderers' player-manager Steve Owen stepped up to take the penalty, sending the 'keeper the wrong way.
Wanderers now await the visit of St Ippolyts to Verulamian on December 5.
