Marcus Ellis and his partner Chris Langridge are through to the semi-finals of the men’s doubles at the Rio Olympics.
The pair, who are competing in their first Olympics, beat Japan’s Kenichi Hayakawa and Hiroyuki Endo in stright sets, 21-19, 21-17.
They will next meet the Chinese duo of Haifend Fu and Nan Zhang. That will be tomorrow (Tuesday) at 1.30pm.
Ellis was born in Huddersfield but is now based in St Albans.
Great Britain have not won an Olympic badminton medal since 2004 when Gail Emms and Nathan Robertson took silver in the mixed doubles.
