Kabir Toor smashed Radlett to the top of the Saracens Herts Premier Division for the first time this season, and with just three weeks remaining.

Welwyn Garden City have led the league from the very first week – they profited from two extra wins when the rest of the teams had games abandoned – but lost to Hemel Hempstead on Saturday.

Radlett, having been in position to steal top spot on three other occasions and failed, finally took their chance with a thumping, 147-run win over Potters Bar at Cobden Hill.

Kabir Toor did the damage with the bat, scoring a 107-ball 109, as Radlett recorded 303 before turning over to Robbie Crocker who took six wickets as Bar bowed out for 156.

Jono McLean won the toss, opted to bat and sent out Fraser Crawford and Toor to face the new ball. The pair thrived and put on what turned out to be a match-winning stand of 160.

Crawford was the man to go, caught for 65, his third half-century of the season.

Toor, joined by McLean, continued to frustrate the bowlers, hitting them to all areas of the ground as Radlett passed the 200 mark. When his innings was finally ended, stumped with the score on 208, he left having hit 13 fours and three sixes.

McLean continued in the same vain as the openers, facing 48 balls and turning it into 57 runs but when he was the fifth wicket taken, with the board showing 272, the innings quickly came to a close as only Hugh McDowell (12) scored double figures.

Radlett’s 303-9 in 50 overs was their second highest score of the season, bested only by the opening day 314 against Sawbridgeworth.

Seamers Ben Lederman and Randeep Sanghera opened the bowling and the latter took the opening wicket, removing Bar’s top scorer, Liam Gough, for eight.

The next pair, Rahul Panta (47) and Harrison Palmer (11), steered Bar away from the immediate danger, putting on 45 runs. When Palmer became Toor’s only victim, the next two batsmen subsided to Crocker’s bowling as Bar reached 83-4.

Panta and Lenny Cooper took the score past 100 before the opener was caught and bowled by Crocker and number seven Peter Sogbodjor was run out by Joe Cooke.

Cooper (21) and Chris Swainland (37) took the score to 137 but when the former was run out by Lederman, the next three wickets fell for just 19 runs.

Crocker put the final nail in Bar’s coffin, taking the final three wickets, one clean bowled and two caught, as the innings closed on 156, taking Radlett to the top of the division.

The league leaders begin the three-game run-in to the play-offs on Saturday with a trip to Bishop’s Stortford.
