St Albans City moved up to eighth in the Vanarama Conference South after a 1-0 win over Bath City at Clarence Park.
John Frendo scored the only goal of the game, in the opening minute, as the Saints beat the Romans. The win was City’s second successive win at home in the league, having beaten Havant and Waterlooville on November 22.
St Albans have now recorded 28 points from 19 games and are just five points off second-placed Bromley. In the other direction, Concord Rangers, in 13th, are the same number of points behind the Saints.
Locally, Hemel Hempstead, who today lost 4-0 to Chelmsford City, are in 12th and are four points off St Albans but have two games in hand.
City are in Herts Senior Cup action on Tuesday, against Kings Langley, before an extended break ahead of their December 20 trip to Bromley.
