An own goal from Tom Massey handed London Colney three points and catapulted them into the top eight in the SSML Premier Division.
Still showing signs from Tuesday’s Herts Charity Shield final loss to Hertford Town, the Blueboys had to battle for everything against 15th-placed Cockfosters.
The breakthrough came in the second half when Massey, trying to clear a cross, diverted the ball into his own net.
Manager Ryan Thompson will be looking for a better performance tomorrow night at St Margaretsbury where a win, and a Berkhamsted loss against Hertford Town, will see Colney jump into the top six.
