Harpenden Hockey Club’s ladies’ 1sts’ quest for promotion continues to build momentum after they beat St Albans 3rds 4-1 at Woollams on Saturday.
Sabrina Jayseelam steered home what turned out to be the winner, Harps’ second goal of the day, adding to Niccara Berry’s opener, from a short corner after the interval.
Helena Stolle and Niccara Berry netted a goal each to put the game beyond St Albans, who finally found a way past goalkeeper Rachael Cleaver to score a late consolation goal.
The result means Harpenden are the only team in Division 2C of the East League yet to lose – they have won six and drawn two this season, putting them one point ahead of second-placed Royston.
