Frank Buglioni reclaimed the vacant WBO European Super-Middleweight championship after a points win over Andrew Robinson at London's ExCel Arena on Saturday night.

The Wiseguy lost the title to Sergey Khomitsky in April when he was knocked out in the sixth round, leading to a split from trainer Jimmy Tibbs. He signed up with former world champion Steve Collins, a St Albans resident, shortly after and, under his tutelage, has won his last two fights.

On Saturday, fighting on Frank Warren’s Bad Blood card, Buglioni took a couple of big shots from previously unbeaten Robinson in round one but delivered some punishing blows of his own in the second.

From then on, Buglioni controlled the fight, winning the battle in the clinch in the third and charging down Robinson in the fourth. Redditch-based Robinson had Buglioni on the ropes in the fifth but the Enfield fighter took the next two before knocking his opponent to the canvas in the eighth with a big left hand.

Robinson finished the contest strongly but Buglioni did enough in the last two rounds to earn a unanimous points decision (97-93, 97-92, 97-92) and the title.
