London Colney endured a miserable night away to Kings Langley in the SSML Premier Division, ending the game with 10-men and going down 3-0.

New boss Jim Nicholls’ side played out a 1-1 stalemate at home to Tring Athletic on Saturday, Russell Gallagher scoring the goal, but they were unable to add to their points tally on Tuesday.

Kings’ Alex Campana scored twice in the first half and, after Dan Power was sent off for a second yellow, Danny Hutchins added a third after the break as the Blueboys left Langley without any points.

In their brand new red away kit, London Colney found themselves a goal down after three minutes when Connor Toomey found Campana in the box and he made no mistake.

The second followed shortly after when a quick break saw Campana tap-in the rebound after Jack Smith saved the initial shot.

The Blueboys started to create chances but they were unable to convert them into goals as Martin Collins and Greg Shaw went close.

At the other end, Nick Jackson should have scored Kings’ third but he headed over Smith’s bar.

Just before the break, Colney had a penalty shout turned down. Cain Davey’s corner found Sam Doolan whose header goalwards seemingly was deflected behind by a hand. However, the referee was unmoved and ended the half with Kings two up.

Smith was called on early in the second half to deny Hutchins and his opposite number also had to be alert when Collins sent Jimmy Warner clear. Warner tried to lob the on-rushing Anthony Ladyman but he tipped the effort over the bar.

With 15 minutes to go the Blueboys were reduced to 10 men when Power was given his marching orders, making Colney’s task all but impossible.

Kings seals the win in the 81st minute when Doolan conceded a corner and Hutchins drove the penalty past Smith to complete Colney’s miserable night.

The Blueboys entertain Woodbridge Town in the FA Cup on Saturday, 3pm kick-off.
