CRICKET: HERTS CCC star Ben Frazer says the mood in the camp is good ahead of next Thursday’s Minor Counties Knock-Out Trophy Final clash with Berkshire at Lord’s
Frazer helped Herts book their place in the final with a sparkling 127* in the semi-final against Cambridge and the Harpenden all-rounder believes it is time that the county got their hands on some silverware.
Speaking to the Herts Advertiser, Frazer said: “I haven’t seen many of the boys but from the banter on email and text I think the mood is one of excitement and a determination to win, as well as thoroughly looking forward to playing at the home of cricket. There is no better place to play is there!”
“I am always confident any team I play in can win and especially this one. We have been playing great cricket all year and in the one day stuff for two/three years now and I think it is time we finally won something.”
Berkshire boast an impressive bowling line-up including former Hampshire and Middlesex spinner Shaun Udal and Frazer is under no illusions as to how big a challenge they will provide but says Herts will be focusing on their own talents rather than those of their opponents.
“We play against some of the Berkshire team in the league and they are clearly a good side,” he said.
“I think they are top of the three day comp as well so they are having a good year. They are a well balanced side like us but from what I have seen they appear to be strong in the bowling department especially spin. Saying that I don’t think we should be worrying about what they have and focusing on what we have.”
The game starts at 11am and entry is £10 for adults and £5 for U16s and over 65s.
