CITY defender Ryan Frater is reportedly undergoing a trial at Welling United.
The 25-year old centre-half is due to link up with the Wings when they return for pre-season training next week.
Welling United assistant manager Lee Protheroe told the News Shopper: "We are looking to add a central defender and a holding midfielder.
"Ryan will be joining us on trial and we also have a lad from Erith & Belvedere joining us who Andy (Ford, Welling manager) knows."
The same newspaper is also reporting that City are fighting it out with Chelmsford for the signature of Danny Hockton who scored 19 goals for Braintree last season.
Welling were also interested in the striker but look to have pulled out because of the 30-year-old's wage demands.
