Fourth successive loss for Harpenden

Harpenden slipped to a fourth successive loss on Saturday, going down 6-1 at Bedford.
The result saw them slip to midtable in East League Division 2S, a long way from when they reached as high as second after putting together fifth straight wins.
Harpenden’s struggles on Saturday stemmed from first-half lapses, which allowed Bedford to build up an unassailable four-goal lead. For them on it was always going to be tough for a team that hasn’t scored four goals in its last four games, let alone in one half.
The visitors did managed to salvage a goal with a much-improved second-half performance, Reece Baker-Kiff turning in Matt Evans’ cross, but Bedford scored two more to run out comfortable winners.
Harpenden did shows signs of the attacking potency that served them so well at the start of the year as Evans, Olly Edmond and Danny Burgess all went close. They will be hoping to take those changes if they come their way in Saturday’s six-pointer at struggling Upminster.
