St Albans Cricket Club are celebrating winning the Choice Cricket Indoor League Division One title for the fourth time in the last five years.

With a convincing win over Redbourn CC on Monday at The Choice Cricket Centre in Redbourn, Saints wrapped up a fine run of results to regain the title once again.

The club won the competition in 2012, 2013 and 2014 before narrowly missing out last year.

Captained by Adam Hounslow, a St Albans team of Syed Kibria, Dan Rosson, Jacob Winfield, Max Capaldi and Ben Nichol restricted Redbourn to a score of 118 runs with Dan Rosson the pick of the bowlers and Hounslow himself taking the final catch in the 11th over.

They then chased down that total with Kibria and Winfield impressing with the bat as they closed out the match with three wickets and an over to spare.

Hounslow said, “We had a great summer with our 1XI getting promoted and this trophy caps a great year for the club.

“There have been some excellent individual and team performances throughout our indoor campaign and we look forward to taking this great form into 2017.”

St Albans CC is currently recruiting adult players of all abilities for its 2017 summer campaign.

The club runs four sides on a Saturday and two on a Sunday with plenty of opportunities for anybody looking to play either league or social cricket.

A free introductory winter net session and coaching is on offer to anybody who has moved to the area recently and is looking for a new, friendly club or just simply wants to get back into playing cricket after some time away.
