After a goalless opening half, which saw Saints keeper Joe Welch save Michael Cheek’s penalty after he had felled Luke Callander, it all went wrong for the hosts just after the break.

In the opening moments of the second half Cheek made up for his spot-kick miss by bursting through and breaking the deadlock.

It got worse for James Gray and Graham Golds’ side four minutes later as Yado Mambo headed home a second to secure the Clarets the points.

St Albans play again tonight (Monday) as they travel to Boreham Wood in the Vanarama Conference South.
