Dan Foster starred on his return to Radlett 2s, taking five wickets in Saturday’s win over Old Owens in Saracens Herts Division Two A.

Captain Foster has been on first-team duty for the past four weeks, taking five wickets in three games.

He was back in the 2s side on Saturday and he made his presence felt with his second five-for this summer.

Radlett were sent into the field and struck early as Ross Carpenter (2-26) removed two of the top three batters. He was well supported up front by Stan Tinkler (1-28) who had a good game on his return.

Foster (5-22) then brought himself on and looked to make an immediate impact on his return. And he did just that, taking five wickets from his 15 overs and only conceding 22 runs. Robin Willis (2-8) held the other end and took two crucial wickets to restrict Old Owens to 136.

Radlett’s batting reply started slowly and as Graham Dill looked to increase the run rate, he found himself caught behind for five. Hugh McDowell (33) took on the scoring and moved Radlett closer to victory until he was also caught out.

Martin Jones (12) joined Josh Charles at the crease and they continued to deaden the Old Owens attack before Jones was given out LBW, bringing Michael Lee to the crease.

He put on 65 runs with Charles to bring the team to within six runs of victory but he fell late on.

It was left to Johnny Armitage (7*) to score the winning runs, with a large amount of credit going to Josh Charles who held the innings together, seeing off all that Old Owens could throw at him finishing unbeaten on 39 and securing Radlett’s place at the top of the table.
