Parmiter School student Josh Steed has won two karting trophies in the last two months.

In March, Steed had a clean sweep at Hoddesdon Kart Club’s meeting at Rye House, taking pole, winning both of his heats and the final. He nearly made it a perfect month by winning at Whilton Mill but, after winning his heat against some of the top drivers in the country, he was forced off the track in the final and had to retire.

Unscathed, he returned to Rye House to race in the Josh O’Malley Cup. The competition is a one-off race each year to celebrate the life of Josh O’Malley, who raced at this track for many years, but unfortunately passed away from cancer, at a very young age.

Once again, Steed dominated the meeting. After taking pole position, he won heat one by six seconds and then heat two by two second. He saved his best drive for the final, though, crossing the line nine seconds ahead of his closest rival to lift the cup.
