Frustraing weekend for Radlett racer Jones

Alex Jones suffered a frustrating weekend at the latest round of the Formula Vee Motor Racing Championship.
The Radlett man had hoped to continue his strong showing from the last round at Croft but any momentum was derailed in qualifying at Anglesey when his power unit blew.
It meant he was forced to start from the back of the grid in race one.
And things did not improve in the race as, despite making a flying start and passing no fewer than eight cars, he was caught up in a first-lap incident, leaving him with no option but to retire the car.
It didn’t totally end his weekend however as he spent race two in the commentary box.
Jones said: “It’s been a disappointing weekend and it just goes to show that you can never tell what hand you’re going to be dealt in motorsport.
“But this has been another learning experience which I can draw positives from and use to improve.
“We never really got an opportunity to gauge our true pace so we’ll regroup, put this weekend behind us and do our best to get back out for Silverstone next month.
“On the flip side, I was fortunate enough to have been given the chance to join Ian Snowman in the commentary box on Sunday.
“Of course I would have rather been out racing but I thoroughly enjoyed the experience and I’d like to say thank you to Ian for allowing me to join him and try something a bit different to what I’m used to.”
